The Process

Requirements
Valid passport: With sufficient validity beyond your intended stay
Proof of financial means: €28,800 per year (400% of IPREM) plus €7,200 per dependent
Spanish private health insurance: No co-pays, no deductibles, full coverage from a Spanish provider
Criminal background check: From your country of residence, apostilled
Medical certificate: Stating you are free of contagious diseases
Proof of accommodation: Long-term rental contract or property ownership in Spain
Proof of cessation of work: Termination letter, retirement certificate, or notarized affidavit confirming you will not work in Spain
Note: Remote work is not permitted on this visa. You cannot work for any employer, including foreign companies, while residing in Spain on the NLV.

Important Notes
Entry deadline: You must enter Spain within 90 days of visa approval.
NIE requirement: Apply for your Spanish foreigner ID within 30 days of arrival.
Minimum stay: You must spend at least 183 days per year in Spain to maintain eligibility for renewal and citizenship.
No work permitted: This visa prohibits all work, including remote work for foreign companies.
